Find a space to explore movement.

Open practice, release tension, explore creatively.

Open Practice

Open Practice is designed as a space to explore movement. It’s for dancers, actors and performers to warm up and find new ways of playing with movement. It’s for non-dancers who just want a space to breathe and explore different movement patterns. It’s an incredible way to release tension, explore creatively and get in touch with your body. The class is facilitated by a teacher who puts together an eclectic playlist and will occasionally provide a focus for movement (ie. focus on moving through the floor).

Louisa

Shalva Louisa first started dancing at 3, at her local ballet school. She spent her teen years attending classes at Northern Ballet Academy and dancing competitively. In her late teens, Louisa realised she didn’t want to be a professional ballet dancer, turned down a place at a vocational ballet school and (instead) moved to London to work as a magician. Still a performer, she spent her free time dancing and exploring other forms of movement (including mime, yoga and improv).

Shalva Louisa is currently studying Theology at Cambridge but still spends her free time dancing, stretching and playing with different forms of movement. When she first moved to Cambridge, she looked for an Open Practice and didn’t find one - so she decided to set one up!
